Hi I just did the 90 day notification online. It simply said sucess and I received an auto-email with the form as a pdf file. Does that mean it’s done? Since it’s my first time I’m quite confused why it worked.

Thank you for any answers.
Summary so far
The user is confused about the online submission they completed for their 90-day notification in Thailand that returned a success message. The community members have clarified that receiving a success message only means the application was received but does not guarantee approval. It's noted that particularly for first-time reporters, a rejection is common, and they will have to wait for a confirmation email. Many emphasize that first-time 90-day reports typically need to be done in person rather than online, although reporting online can sometimes be accepted. Further discussions include tips about interactions with immigration officers and the implications of early reporting.

What's your definition of success?

I didn't think you could do your first 90 day report online and you had to do it in person (that's what I did 2 years ago although it may have changed). Anyway what you received is just a receipt, they will send you an email to confirm if it is successful or not with a date for your next 90 day report. Good luck.

So basically , we can never report online ? If you can’t do your first one online and we have to leave at the 180 mark , it’ll always be our first one ? So I guess we will just have to go in person each time , is that correct ?

Do by postal method, cheaper and easier

OP
J Ash the postal method works from the first time? And how would that work? Print out the form, fill it out and then post it where?

I'm learning this is true. I'm on my 3rd 90-day report since I got DTV, and it always rejects online. I'm guessing that it resets every time I go out of country, so the online thing is more for people with true long-term visas or extensions that don't have to fly out every 6 months. ie: successive 90-day reports in a row.

seems like that’s the case , however I will try anyway .. I’ll report early on Monday, report online for the next, then see what happens when I return .. I’m guessing it resets also and back to in person , but worth a shot lol

Sean Mcdonald I’m on DTV, (hence my post in this group) not retirement visa

More or less your conclusion is correct.

Only a few exceptions. When your first report is early, maybe because day 90 and up are inconvenient for you to visit Immigration, your second need to be done before day 180, because the counter starts again the moment you did report.

The other exception is when you extend in country.

But even when you need to report in person, you can just try to report online, it is easy and free and when you got rejected you can print the filled in PDF to report in person.

Sometimes they just accept, like my latest report.

ahhh, the counter resets from report date? So best not to report early ? Is that correct ? Like an extension starts from the last valid day .. not when you get it , reporting is different?

When you exit and re-enter the first always has to be done in person officially.

Personally I always try to report online first, sometimes it is accepted, sometimes not.

ah okok, got it 👍 last question, if you report early , then online .. when you exit and Renter , is the report considered your first again and report in person , or can do online since you successfully did one online ?

You can indeed say best not to report early, but on the other hand, then the second report can normally be done online, which is easy and not will take you more than 5 minutes

Is it the auto email saying it used submitted or does it say it is processed and approved?

You have not done the report. You just submitted. Need to wait for either an approval or a rejection, most likely the second. Either way, it's not done yet.

Its a statement that they received the application, if its your first 90day after last entry, you will get refusal later

If/when you do your 90 day report in person, be pleasant with the officer and give them a tip. Ask for their LINE ID/mobile phone number. In future you will then have a contact you can call and make an appointment to avoid queuing. Also, if a valid online 90 day report rejects, you can call the officer and they will be able to put it through for you. I have done this myself and it makes life a little easier.

My Thai wife understands how things work (obviously). When I was missing a bank statement she offered the Immigration Officer 500 baht. Once there was a huge queue so she folded 300 baht inside my passport and marched to the front, handing my passport over the glass screen. I got tannoyed in 30 seconds and jumped the queue. Another occasion the officer had a lot of work in processing my extension, new 90 day report and also transferring my stamps to my new passport. She gave him 300 baht and asked for his LINE/mobile phone number.
