TLDR : Answer Summary
The process of applying for a UK passport for your daughter does not require you to send your passport; a copy will suffice. You will also need to provide your daughter's long-form birth certificate, proof of address in Thailand, and the mother's identification. Regarding the counter signer, it is generally acceptable even if you have known them for only a year, provided they hold a UK passport and can present a copy of the ID page.

I don't think it matters. It helps if they have a UK passport and I included a copy of their ID page.

I think the original is required, plus a translation, if not in English.

You just need a copy of your passport. But you need your long-form birth certificate, proof of address in Thailand plus the mother's ID/passport/birth certificate.

They want colour copies but will want to see originals that will be returned. Go on the UK GOV site they state what they need there. They have guidance notes for the application. I'm currently going through this now.. My appointment is for this month.
