TLDR : Answer Summary
A German passport holder traveling to Thailand for one month does not necessarily need to show proof of funds (20,000 THB each) upon arrival, although it's recommended to be prepared. The proof can also be in another currency, but the airline might ask for an onward travel ticket to avoid responsibility if entry is denied. Generally, travelers can stay for 30 days without a visa, and the arrival day counts as day one.

You won't be asked for any of that though no harm in being prepared for it.

You can stay 30 days without getting a visa, however, the day you arrive counts as day 1. Airlines can be fussy if your return date is not within those 30 days.

if you have no visa history in Thailand the Thai Immigration, most likely, will not ask. However the airline at Check in, most likely, will ask for ONWARD travel ticket, as they do not want to take responsibility in case you denied entry.

I can be asked for. It does not have to be THB. It can be the equivalent in another currency.
