As my Indian friend is informed from immigration, there is no need of getting a visa for child up to 15 years old if the child is born in Thailand. Both the parents are Indian. Last year, family exited the country without any problem but when returning, the immigration asked for the child’s return ticket. So my friend needed to flight return ticket instantly and passed through the immigration.
Is this the normal process for a child without Thai visa to have return ticket?
Advantage of not getting visa:
No 90 days report, no TM30, no visa fee, no reentry required.
Disadvantage of not having visa:
Reentering thailand needs return flight tickets, and need to book one adult ticket as well.
If there is a way out without booking return flight ticket, it would be great. Thinking of booking a flight ticket via agent and cancel it!
Need an advise/suggestion from the experts in the group.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers on the visa requirements for children of Indian parents born in Thailand. While the child does not need a visa up to 15 years old for stays in Thailand, there are necessary conditions for re-entry, including the need for a return flight ticket. Even though there is no fine for overstaying or failing to report, proof of onward travel is generally required for entry. Suggestions include possible strategies for dealing with these requirements.
There is no overstay for children under 15 and there is no banning for overstay for children under 18 BUT that doesn't mean they shouldn't have visas.
AND as you said they're an indian passport holder so they can't get IN to thailand without at least a 15 day visa on arrival AND to get a VOA most people from the 21 countries that get them have to show proof of onward travel SO yes, that's totally normal.
The child has an indian passport And as all Indian passport holders the child can not enter Thailand without a visa. When in Thailand, the child can overstay, not report the address and not do 90 days reports, as the child will not be fined for this.
