Hi guys! Not sure whether this has been answered before or not. But, does the visa timescale work on a calendar year or from when you first apply within a 12 month period of when you first apply?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Thai visa timescale does not operate on a strict calendar year basis. Instead, it is based on the individual's entry and visa history. For most nationalities, there are specific limits on entries; for example, two visa-exempt entries by land per calendar year and an unspecified number of tourist visas as determined by the immigration officer. The time period may reset based on the perceived nature of your stay, such as being recognized as a tourist. When applying for visas or extensions, the timelines are influenced by your entry date and the total time spent in Thailand.

1. There is no "visa calendar year". Most nationalities get 2 visa exempt entries entries by land in a calendar year, and "unlimited" entries by land, with "unlimited" defined by the immigration officer.

2. A person is entitled to "unlimited" tourist visas, with unlimited defined by the immigration officer.

3. "Unlimited" gets reset when a reasonable person believes you are here as a tourist, and not abusing the visa system.

Why bother to find out how and where to get the short time visa if you like to stay long time. Bit the bullet and get the visa that fits your purpose of stay.

Any visa/waiver. Does the timescale run from 1st Jan-31st Dec? This is about applying then entering the country. Apparently, from a post on here, you're not allowed to apply for a tourist visa at any consulate in Asia if you've already spent 90 days in the Kingdom.

So for example, you enter the kingdom in June 2019 on a SETV, then extend that at immigration for 30 days. Is that the start your 12 month period? Or, does it reset from the 1st January 2020?

OK for Non O Single Entry if married to Thai or support Thai Child (if back to back application, they will ask show money THB 200,000.- in Thai Bank Account). For application Non O Volunteer first time OK(if back to back need guarantee letter from said Ministry equivalent to department level).

Tourist Visa, if you had previously some Tourist visas your application will be considered more carefully. Vientiane is now, in most cases, asking for proof of funds, Book Bank with balance THB 20,000.- up OR print out from Bank account from home country value USD 700.-up. each SE Asia Thai Consulate accepts applications for a Tourist Visa. However each one may set their requirements for granting them. First look at their website posted requirements for the visa. Then read postings from forum readers who have experienced approval or denials of their applications.

And follow reports of Amornrat on their website for latest reports on several SE Asian Consulates.
