Hello, We are going to Thailand in MAY and we belong to the visa exempt countries (Philippines & UK) so we have 60days visa. My question is, can we book our exit flight before 60days? and extend our visa to 90days and reschedule our ticket? We want to make sure we are doing it right. Thank you so much in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster (OP) is seeking advice on whether they can book their exit flight before their 60-day visa exempt stay in Thailand ends, and whether they can extend their stay to 90 days. The community responses suggest that booking an exit flight before the visa expires is generally acceptable, but it's recommended to apply for the extension upon arrival. Extensions for visa-exempt entries can typically be granted up to an additional 30 days, allowing a maximum stay of 90 days. Some comments caution about potential scrutiny from airlines and immigration authorities regarding proof of onward travel.

it depends on the airline if you get asked for the onward travel proof within the 60 days admitted stay you will get stamped in. Thai Immigration normally does not ask. Only if you have an extensive visa-exempt or touristic entry stamp history in your passports, they can ask you for the famous three proofs (onward travel, accommodation, cash equivalent of 20,000 THB)

Yes, your exit is before and then extend stay, you can rebook your ticket before that extension since you only need the initial ticket at entry date.

You literally say "visa exempt" and one breath later call it a visa. Which is it? Are you exempt, or need a visa?

It shouldn’t be a problem yet I would get the extension before you change your flight. You ca apply for the extension as soon as you get here. I was here for 2 weeks and was approved for the 30 ext

Just depends on you’re taste and budget. Vietnam is less expensive and worthwhile but my preference is Singapore, plenty to see in one week but more expensive

It also depends on how many times you have arrived on a visa exemption, if its your 1st or second time you will not have a problem

Peter H Bates do you know what the word "Exempt" means? One word that could replace it is "excused", so Visa Exempt means being excused from the need for purchase a Visa 🙄

If we book exit flight before 60days expires and decided to extend. We still need to exit after 90days right?

So we need to rebook our ticket (before 60days) to before our 90days stay? Is that correct? we still need to exit after 90days.

JoyfulPomegranate6770 Yes. If you have stayed 60 days and applied for 30-day visa extension, you will have to exit on the Day 90. So, in total, you are allowed to stay in Thailand for 90 days maximum and you must exit the country on the Day 90

JoyfulPomegranate6770 you can enter on 60 day visa exempt, extend for another 30 days when you are 30 days or more thru your 60 day visa exempt.

If you want to stay longer then you either leave and come back or do a border run out and back on same day. You will then be stamped in for another 60 days.

I book my flights when nearing the end of my stay.

JoyfulPomegranate6770 so the story has changed? You no longer want to stay just 90 days? If you only want to stay 90 days and then leave then you just get the additional 30 days at an immigration office inside Thailand. If your looking to spend 90 days then leave and shortly thereafter return then you might get away with that a couple of times but will soon run into issues

Paul Franklin...don't tell me.it's bull...I have worked for airlines, and yes you can explain ,obviously, but they don't have to accept your explanation. Tell.me, who makes the decision, who has the control, you ...lol....no ...the airline, is people like you that are fortunate many times, tell every one how it's fine, then, one day if you get refused boarding, and the work don't care about your explanation, YOU will be the one saying it's all unfair, boo hooo...

Paul Franklin.you can explain, but the airline is responsible to make sure you have proof of leaving within 60 days. End.of that's the rule, if immigration refuse entry then the airline is responsible to get you back to where you came from at their expense of you can't pay. So explain all you like, maybe they allow you, maybe not. Spend 3 us dollar's and save the worry.but as they say, up to.you
