Can South African passport holders get a 30-day extension at Phuket immigration after a land border crossing?

Good evening

My son and gf (South African passports) will arrive on a 30 day visa exemption with, money, return flights and accommodation. While staying here we are planning to go to Ranong by road for a dive trip which I assume would cancel their 30 day visa exemption entry. I am of the understanding that South Africans making a land border crossing back into Thailand would only get 15 days stay.

My question is this: can I go to Phuket immigration on our return from Myanmar and get a 30 day extension for them or is that unavailable for land crossings for South Africans?

If visa extension is unavailable for them, I’ll plan the trip towards the end of their stay.

TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the possibility of obtaining a 30-day extension for their son and girlfriend (South African passport holders) after returning from a diving trip to Myanmar via land. They are concerned about the immigration rules regarding land crossings and recent updates that might affect their stay. Comments provide insights, mentioning that South Africans can get a 30-day extension but can only do so twice a year, and the need for a Myanmar visa if exiting Thai waters. The overall conclusion leans towards potentially planning the dive trip towards the end of their 30-day stay to accommodate immigration rules.

You better contact the dive shop again and ask how they deal with this, mention the country of origin of your passports. They must had more customers and know it.

this as an example, I not see requirement for Mynamr visa. Or passing Thai Immigration. I would assume that passenger, etc are scanned by local Police and Harbour master before allowed to set sail.

The visa for entry to Myanmar is bought on the jetty at Kawthuang. Its a day pass and is only good for entry to Kawthuang. You cannot go travelling in to Myanmar with it.Your stamped out of Thailand first before you leave. You cannot even be in Myanmar waters without a visa

If you join one of our trips to Burma, your passport will be stamped on exit and re-entry to Thailand.

Ranong is in Thailand. Why would you be crossing a border if your only going to Ranong?

I am confused with exactly what your asking? Your going by boat but coming back by land. Most boat trips will take you to Kawthaung. Not sure what you will going there for. But anyway, you cannot get a Thai visa in Kawthuang. You would be coming back into Thailand visa exempt. If you have already done 2 visa exempt land entry's this year, you wouldn't be able to do it.

you check with dive company. We can only assume. I do not think you will be stamped out of Thailand, unless this is very Official Tour which requires you to enter Myanmar water and Immigration.

you get 30 days at land borders since 31 Dec 2016, but they can only do this twice a calendar year

No, i doubt if a Brazilian can even use that border as they get a 90 day stay by bilateral agreements

... I have a Brazilian friend wanting to come with... and I see they’re not on the list ... so they get 15 days?
