Dear group, I have a question about changing from an ED visa to a Non-O marriage visa for my wife.

If her ED visa is valid until the 19th December, can we still go abroad and apply for a non-O before that date?, or do we need to wait for ED visa to expire before then applying for a Non-O?

Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring whether their wife can apply for a Non-O marriage visa while her current ED visa is still valid until December 19th, or if she needs to wait until the ED visa expires. Responses clarify that she can change her visa before expiration by canceling her ED visa with the proper documentation from her school.

In theory, IF she is on an extension of stay you should go to the immigration office and cancel it with a letter from the school stating she is stopping studying on xxx date. You can do that a couple weeks early, then she can just stamp out and go get the 90 day non-O

I see. I'll get her to talk to her school about getting that done then. Thanks

ahh, there we go, yep your wife CAN go and get a 90 day Non-O visa based on marriage to you from a thai consulate and then you go to the immigration office and get her a matching extension.

Are you on a visa/extension type that lets your spouse get a matching extension?

There is no marriage visa for two foreigners married here :/

There is no way that my wife can stay here as my dependent? The Thai Consulate in Hong Kong, and my company seem to think differently. Am I using the wrong terminology?
