Hi all. Need your wise advice for my girlfriend. I am working for at least 2 years in Bangkok and she will come soon from France. She will apply for a tourist visa and maybe extension. So after 2 or 3 months, we will go on vacation outside Thailand in Asia. Then, she will apply again for a tourist visa from the country we will visit (+1 month extention) to re-enter in Bangkok. My question is : can she do that? ( I think so ) and more importantly, can she do that repeatedly every 2-3 months (by air) during my 2 years here in Bangkok? I am afraid that in the airport, the customs will refuse the entry if she do that too often (4-6 re-entry per year)

Thank you all !!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The community discusses whether a person can repeatedly enter Thailand on a tourist visa every few months, considering potential issues with immigration if they do this frequently. Suggestions include using a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) or an Education Visa (ED) as alternatives. Users also highlight the importance of being prepared with evidence of funds, accommodation, and onward travel when re-entering Thailand.

Just don't visit the same countries all the time and get repeated SETVs from the same place. She may have a problem doing it for 2 years as that is probably 6 or 7 in 2 years, depending how long her holidays outside are. Just see how it goes. METVs would make a lot more sense for that length of time.

So the best solution for the moment is make a visa ED to learn and stay with her bf

explain that 2 years in tourist visa, even by air, she may be refused

And in English you're trying to tell us?
Robert *******
Or start with the Multiple Entry Tourist Visa, when good used she will have almost 270 days of stay out of it, in sections of 60 days and last one extended with 30 days.

@Robert ******
thank you Robert. I Will think about it. But I think the SETV every 2-3 months is a good option ! I just hope we will not have trouble with the customs ! :)
Robert *******
Yes, at a Thai consulate or Embassy in one of the countries you visit.

And then she can apply for a SETV ?

Checking the requirements for an ED education visa and starting to learn Thai could also be a feasible option to consider.

Yes, she can do that. Be always prepared IF Immigration ask her for funds, 20.000 Thb in cash, Accommodation and onward travel.
