Can mentioning plans to organize exhibitions in Thailand affect my Destination Thailand Visa application?

Hello All. Thank you for all the information here!

It’s a pity I only discovered this group after submitting my application...

I’ve recently submitted my documents for the Destination Thailand Visa application. The consulate requested additional materials twice, and I’ve now provided everything they asked for.

I’m an artist and have organized exhibitions of my work internationally. In my application, I included a portfolio shwoing my past exhibitions, awards, and media coverage. In my self-introduction letter, I also mentioned that "*I* *hope to organize exhibitions in Thailand and engage with the local art community*."

I’m now wondering: could this be interpreted as seeking employment or commercial activity in Thailand, and potentially affect my application outcome?

I’d be grateful for any insights or experiences you might be willing to share.

P.S. I just understood from this community that it should be a letter of intent and not a self introduction letter ... I wish I discovered this group earlier!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks clarity on whether their statement about organizing exhibitions in Thailand in their Destination Thailand Visa application may be construed as seeking employment, potentially jeopardizing their application outcome. Community responses indicate that such activities could be interpreted as work, thus not permitted under the DTV, although the user's visa was ultimately approved.

I'd say there's a reasonably high chance of your application being rejected

Yes, that's definitely considered as working in Thailand... You CAN'T involve in any work, marketing or selling activity here in Thailand under a DTV. You're fine with exhibitions outside the country. Your DTV application is a small risk compared to getting caught here in Thailand working without the proper documents. Remember, just because you're getting a DTV by mentioning such activity doesn't mean you're allowed to perform it in Thailand later (immigration has its own rules).

Pardon me but that's not what you should have said. With the DTV visa, you are not allowed to work in Thailand.

Organizing art exhibitions in Thailand is working in Thailand.

ALL your contacts in the conduct of your business is to be with customers and clients outside of Thailand.

What is your passport nation?

Where did you Apply for the DTV visa?

Where are you now ?

I think it will depend on how closely they look at the application. Organising exhibitions etc in Thailand itself would seem to be outside the remit of the DTV as you will have to deal with Thai companies, organisations and people in Thailand. Good luck and hopefully they do not scrutinise your statement too closely.
