Can I work online in Thailand on a DTV visa while being a student counsellor for a UK organization?
Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone can clarify the rules around working online in Thailand while holding a DTV visa.
I am a UK student counsellor (my course is in UK) and may be completing an unpaid, online placement with a UK organisation. All clients would be based in the UK. I am hoping to be physically located in Thailand while conducting the online sessions.
I would not be working for a Thai organisation, accepting clients based in Thailand or receiving any income from Thailand.
Has anyone been in this type of siutation before or know if remote student placement is permitted under the DTV visa?
I have had a look but don't see anything about this. Any reliable guidance or official contacts would be greatly appreciated.

Online counsellors have been approved for the DTV. Working unpaid you would need to show substantial savings beyond the 500k THB. Someone posted awhile back approval for online volunteer work (Taipei Embassy), they used an investment portfolio for income.

I think a workation DTV would need employment with a degree of permanence which would be evident through a work contract for example i.e. I have paid employment for the duration of the visa. I'm not sure a work placement would be sufficient especially as it's unpaid. Workation also shows that you're working and therefore able to find your stay.
