That's what the AI says...... On May 19, 2026, the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented the detailed breakdown of countries under the new system. To avoid confusion, the strict rule now applies: only one, clear entry system per country.
The affected nations are now divided into the following four main groups:
1. The new 30-day tourist regulation (54 countries)
This is the group whose visa-free stay has been reduced from 60 days to 30 days. This includes most of the classic Western tourist markets.
Affected countries: Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the remaining EU member states, the USA, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Malaysia, and some Gulf states (such as Kuwait and Bahrain).
Condition: Applies exclusively to purely tourist purposes.
2. The 30-Day Bilateral Agreement (9 countries/territories)
These countries also retain the right to stay for 30 days, not through the general tourism exemption, but through established, existing government agreements with Thailand.
Affected countries: China, Russia, Hong Kong, Macau, Vietnam, Laos, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and East Timor.
3. The Unchanged 90-Day Countries (5 countries)
Nothing changes here. Due to special, long-term bilateral agreements, citizens of these five nations may continue to stay in the country without a visa for up to 90 days.
Affected countries: South Korea, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Peru.
4. Special Cases: Shortened Entry Periods (15 or 14 days)
Some smaller countries or neighboring states have been assigned to significantly shorter entry periods:
15 days visa-free: Maldives, Mauritius, and Seychelles.
14 days visa-free (only via airport): Cambodia and Myanmar.
Visa on Arrival (reduced to 4 countries): Countries that previously allowed spontaneous purchase of a 15-day visa at the airport (such as India or Taiwan) are largely being removed from this system and will now have to apply for an e-visa online in advance or fall under the more strictly vetted remaining categories.
