Can I use my current passport for domestic flights in Thailand while waiting for my UK passport?

Hi all,

I've tried searching here for an answer but can't find one so hopefully someone can offer some advice.

I have recently applied for a UK passport and realise that this is unlikely to come any time soon.

I know I can't travel internationally but am I able to fly domestically within thailand holding my current passport for purely ID purposes?

There is another 2 years before expiry, I've just run out of pages so there's not a problem on that front.

Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about the ability to fly domestically within Thailand using their current passport, even though they are waiting for a new UK passport. Comments from the community confirmed that it is acceptable to use a valid passport for domestic travel, as no additional stamping is necessary. Additionally, others mentioned that alternative ID forms, such as a Thai driver's license, are also widely accepted for domestic flights.

My passport lives in my drawer. I travel domestically with my Thai driver's license. No questions asked.

Do you have to surrender your pass port if you need a replacement?

still have the UK passport. They'll cut the corner when my replacement arrives I assume.

I think they cut the corner off before the old one is returned ? I renewed my passport in January 2022. I needed it back to reference all my many trips to thailand .

I still have my old one. They didn't send it off, just the photocopies.

not for Australia, but they cut off the readable strip. Which invalidates it for travel.

I know America punches holes in it.

I don't actually have a Thai driving license so just hoping this was a viable alternative ☺️

Use your UK licence. I've lived in Thailand 15 years, never bothered to get a Thai Licence, and I just flash the Aussie licence and it's accepted no problem

the passport is still a valid document as long as they haven't put a hole in it or cut the bottom readable ID section off.

If they have I would be buying a ticket at the airport and showing them the passport. Viable other options are the train.

Shouldn't be any problem as long as it's valid. They don't need to stamp anything for domestic travel.
