TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus among commenters is that a Thai Driver’s License can often be used as an acceptable form of ID for domestic air travel in Thailand, despite there being some official stipulations against it. While some airlines specify the need for a passport, many travelers report successful boarding using only their driver's license. It's advised to carry a passport whenever possible to avoid any issues, especially since individual airline policies may vary.

Yes, as well as booking rooms, renting bikes, etc

Many claim no, but in 18 years have used in domestically close to a hundred times.

Yes - except for when it isn't. Happened to me once - boarding gate at CNX, showed my DL and boarding pass and they insisted I show them my passport. Other times never had a problem.

For a Thai Citizen that is a guaranteed Yes, but under IATA rules and regulations, Airlines have the discretion to refuse any foreigner without a valid passport, so if you have a passport why risk it?
