I have just been advised by bitkub that my cryptocurrency holdings may be used for my annual retirement visa application. Has anyone used this facility successfully?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the possibility of using cryptocurrency holdings to support their annual retirement visa application in Thailand, as advised by Bitkub, a cryptocurrency exchange. The comments reflect a mix of skepticism and caution, with various users emphasizing that Thai immigration typically requires bank statements for financial proof, expressing doubts about the acceptance of crypto statements. Some commenters suggest that mentioning crypto assets could lead to issues with immigration, likening it to money laundering concerns. Overall, there is a strong consensus that relying on cryptocurrency for visa applications is risky and likely not advisable.

Why are so many frightened of immigration. Always answered my questions there and then

Does matter what a bitcoin platform says. It matters what Thai Immigration says.

Bitkub is legal in Thailand and maybe can release a statement valid for immigration. Ask them the release of the statement for immigration and try the application for the visa renew, maybe there is also something more to show.

They offered the information I did not ask for it.

I was requesting a CSV file. They sent me this note on how to get it. I questioned it with them when they suggested it could be used for a visa application. My question is simply has anyone done this or tried?

Why are you asking Bitkub? They have nothing to do with it

Don't do it.

Crypto = moneylaundering as far as Thai authorities are concerned.

Don't even mention that you hold crypto assets.

It's not a big amount you need to show - cash it out, show it, then reinvest.

@Jenny *****
that is not exactly true. Crypto is regulated as "digital assets" under the Royal Decree on Digital Asset Business. Trading, buying, and selling cryptocurrencies are permitted, but certain activities, such as using them as a means of payment, are restricted.

I didn't say they were ILLEGAL.

I said that immigration officials view cryptocurrency with suspicion, so while you could in theory use it to show proof of funds, it would be counterproductive and is not advised by people who know what's going on in the decision-making process.

Funny how a crypto exchange says crypto can be used anywhere for anything!

Thai law explicitly requires a deposit in a Thai bank. Why are people constantly questioning this?

You only risk 1900 baht to find out. But I'd go early. Probability of success 0.

u only pay 1900baht when your extension is approved

Immigration only accept bank statements....good luck if you are bringing your crypto statement instead of bank statement for your next extension

That would be useful for many people!

yes exactly the person that I spoke to seemed very convinced that it was allowed. And it wouldn't surprise me after 20 years in Thailand that something an immigration officer, tells you cannot be done, can in fact be done.
