TLDR : Answer Summary
A meeting with immigration revealed that transitioning from an O-A visa to an O visa in Thailand requires leaving the country. After departure, one can return on a one-month visa and subsequently apply for a retirement O visa, provided they meet the financial requirements.

. Yeah I thought this was a serious group. If it's advice why don't people stick with good advice instead of speaking in riddles? The Bangkok expats is a good group for talking crap. I do it all the time there

. Being insured and leaving a large chunk of money in a superannuation investment fund paying 7.6% as opposed to putting

All above board. No dodgy.

That's the only way you're going to get switched over to a visa/extension that doesn't need the mandatory health insurance like an O-A visa/extension does.

I got no idea who "Aunty Noi" is but what you need to do is bounce out and back to get cancel the O-A entry stamp or extension you're on and come back in on a 30 day visa exempt, THEN go and apply for a 90 day Non-O at your immigration office, and after you get that go for the year extension

Right, you CANNOT go from an O-A visa/extension to an O visa inside the country without leaving and coming back.

I made a post about it here;
