Hi guys, someone have experience how the immigration in jomtien handles the original of the 65k per month for a retirement visa. Till now I hold 800k on a thai account but would prefer not to hold this amount in Thailand.

The 65k are in my case from rentals outside thailand, did the immigration ask where the funds coming from or the don't care as long its every first of the month 65k from outside.
Answer summary
The conversation discusses the requirements for obtaining and extending a retirement visa in Thailand, specifically focusing on the 65K monthly income transfer from abroad. It is clarified that the immigration office requires a minimum of 65,000 THB transferred each month for 12 months prior to the visa application, and the source of the funds is generally considered irrelevant. Some participants share different experiences with documentation requirements, while others mention the option of using an 800K bank balance instead of the monthly income method.

´minimum of 65K each and every month transferred from abroad for a full 12 months before you apply for the extension´. But how can you do/proof this when you´re on a 90 day Non-Immigrant O Visa?? Thanks

Tagged as an Overseas transfer, any day during the month, for the 12 months from the month you are applying for the Retirement VISA. It doesn’t need to be transferred on the first of the month and doesn’t have to be exactly 65k, 65k or more. At CM immi, they want also a letter from the branch manager showing you are a member in good standing and an itemized list of the deposits with the date and amount. Jomtien might be different.

Scott Hall Immigration Division 1 in Bangkok specifically asked me to provide bank ‘letter of credit’ for the incoming monthly transfers

This is where I'm going. Put 800k in the bank for 2 months, then start 12 x >65k and use the 65k for extension.

My understanding is that if you are not using the 800k for the next extension, you can take it out when you want.

Andy Johnston you can reduce to 400k after the first 3 months, the quotes about it having to be put back to 800 for last 2 months I think only applies if your next extension is on basis of the 800k , it's not required if changing to the 65k method afaik

Andy Johnston I kept the 800k in the account the full first year and did the 12 monthly transfers as well. This way I was covered both ways. After the Extension was granted I transferred the 800k back home so it could be invested.

Andy Johnston you can only remove the 800k after your second extension is approved using the 65k method.

You can reduce the amount down to 400k after 3 months of your first extension, but it must go back up to 800k two months before your second extension.

65k each calendar (doesn't have to be the first of the month - that's an internet myth), transferred from overseas, source is irrelevant. The only time you need to show proof of pension is if you're using the "embassy affidavit" method, which many countries no longer offer

To fulfill your last ext you will need to keep 800kthb in the bank for 3 months, it can then reduced to 400kthb for the rest of the year, as well as putting the 12 x 65kthb into your thai account. For your next one. Please check with your local office they are happy.

Colin Chaffers it also needs to go back up to 800k two months before the extension application.

Stuart Chiverton don't think the last bit is needed if changing to the 65k monthly

Stuart Chiverton you do if your using the 800kthb method. He wants to go over to the income method. Which i thought the 800kthb didn't apply to. Its worth him checking

The requirement is a minimum of 65K each and every month transferred from abroad for a full 12 months before you apply for the extension. The source is irrelevant.
