Anyone change from DTV to NON-O without leaving thai?
Answer summary
Yes, it is possible to change from a DTV visa to a NON-O visa without leaving Thailand, provided you meet the requirements and submit the necessary paperwork. While some users suggest this process can be handled in-country, others recommend consulting with immigration officers for specific guidance. There are also considerations about the benefits of retaining a DTV visa, as it offers a long validity period and multiple entries.

you need to send email to the embassy where you got the DTV.
Go to immigration and then they will advise you what you need to do they advised me to leave the country and do it from Australia but I stayed and finally got my visa
Yes. You can change in-country to a Non-O, if you meet the requirements and provide the (sometimes excessive) paperwork. Since you mentioned an officer at your local immigration already told you that you could … here you go. Don’t believe in any stories that a DTV would prevent you to switching during its validity or that you would have to cancel it yourself or something like that. Not proven. Having said that … I would keep the DTV. Not worth trading bank account access for regular immigration bureaucracy.
Why would you want to enter visa exempt if you have a DTV?
It should be easy process, bring your passport and paperwork to immigration to inform them you have Non-O visa. They cancel your DTV. Next time you go out and come back you will be on non-o stamp. Not sure if immigration can stamp you at the local office for your new visa.
Anonymous participant IF your local Thai Immigration Officer can cancel it...Do It... and please report back when you got it cancelled by your local Thai Immigration Officer. Thank You 👍
Then look at your change from the DTV visa to a Non O Visa as Father of a Thai child.
That visa requires a 400,000 Thai baht deposit in a Thai bank account in your name only... two months seasoning before you Apply for the Non O Visa as Father of Thai child.
Frankly I think you've now got the best Thai Visa available...the DTV visa is a 5 year multiple entry visa.
Why would you want the Non O Visa?
There's no added benefits having it when compared to the DTV visa.
