Hi everyone! I’m Moroccan and planning to apply for the 6 months Thai METV next month (plannin to travel by the end of October) I’m a bit unsure about the flight ticket requirement and would really appreciate advice from anyone who has recently applied for the METV.

I don’t want to buy real/non-refundable flight tickets yet because I’m not 100% sure of my exact travel date. It will depend partly on how long the visa takes to process.

Has anyone successfully submitted a dummy/temporary flight reservation for the METV? Is this generally accepted, or is it risky and could it cause the application to be rejected or delayed?

Also, if you used a temporary reservation, did the embassy actually verify the booking?

Thank you so much! 🙏
Answer summary
The user, a Moroccan planning to apply for a 6-month Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) to Thailand, seeks advice on the flight ticket requirements for the application process. They are hesitant to purchase a non-refundable ticket due to uncertainty about their travel dates. The responses highlight various opinions on whether it is acceptable to submit a dummy ticket or a temporary flight reservation. Several commenters advise caution, suggesting that genuine tickets are safer, and some recommend cheaper options for refundable tickets. The consensus emphasizes that using legitimate tickets or services providing verifiable bookings may prevent application issues.

There are several reputable agencies who sell onward tickets for $15.

These are actually tickets brokers/travel agents put in your name until you go through immigration. They will show as a valid ticket because they are. Maybe not all companies but I’ve used several.

I “hear” from some now that they can be checked. Idk. With AI it’s a different animal at the consulates. All good things come to an end.

Gregory Hilton That actually sounds like a good option. Would you mind recommending a few of the agencies you’ve used? I’d really appreciate it!

I’ve only used to show an airline to board. Getting a visa, maybe immigration can tell the company if they look that deep.

On London’s site:

Royal Thai Embassy in London currently says that, for most visa types, the flight confirmation should be downloaded directly from the airline’s website and specifically says tickets from travel agencies or tickets on hold are not accepted.

I’d assume for them on a METV they’re looking deeper, especially now.

A ticket to Phnom Penh is only $60us. I think you’d be better off to buy a real ticket.

Air Asia has this "easy cancel" option. I paid 143 eur total for two real tickets from Bangkok to Vietnam, and then got 114 eur back.

El Venus if you are already struggling with the process of getting a METV just go for the DTV, it’s a 5 year visa. I don’t think the quantity of paperwork to provide is so different.

I applied and I got it in 2024 (I am a French zmagri but I think it’s the same for Moroccan passport holders)

Just dummy tickets it dosent work anymore I dare anyone did post any ticket lately and was accepted it would be rejected . Thai visa portal is been enhanced with ai detection .

So the best thing buy a ticket even if it’s non refundable to avoid all the hussels

OP
Salem Almarri Yeah, that makes sense. I’d rather avoid any hassle or risk with the application, so I might just go with a real ticket instead. Thanks for the heads-up!

I would never use a fraudulent flight to officially apply for a visa. I guess that's what they do in Morocco. Honesty is best

OP
Thaiger Tony There’s a difference between a fraudulent/forged ticket and a legitimate temporary flight reservation used as proof of intended travel. I’m certainly not submitting a fake or altered document. I’m following the visa requirements and using legitimate documentation! Thank you

I recommend using their service for dummy tickets. They offer good prices and provide genuine reservations with an active PNR that can be verified with the airline.

El Venus another options is a cheap one way ticket to a country nearby

El Venus if you are applying for visa maybe best to keep it clean from Marroco.

What I meant is you could buy a cheap ticket into or out of Thailand.

Lots of people get a 1 way out of Thailand and because it's required to have an exit ticket. They buy a ticket to Vietnam of something or some other place.
El *******

OP
Pedro Roque Do you mean a cheap one way ticket from Morocco to a nearby country, rather than a ticket into Thailand?

El Venus is lying to the border officer serios.. hummm...

They probably won't check it. But if they do and you get caught you bet they aren't going to be happy about it.

If you just applying for a visa before hand and they caught it probably just get rejected.

Pedro Roque it’s not lying because they’re real tickets. If you use a generator and make one, that’s different.

It will better to discuss with a travel company in Bangkok or write an email to immigration and they can answer in some way

You need to show why you require an METV so you must show a ticket into Thailand, a ticket out of Thailand and a ticket back into Thailand
Alan **********

@John *********
Sorry John, but I don't understand.

The METV, by name, is for multiple entries into Thailand, and presumably is obtained by someone who intends to make multiple exits and re-entries.

Are you suggesting the OP should have an onward ticket out of Thailand 6 months after entry when she apparently has no idea when she'd be going anywhere ?
John **********
John **********
@Alan *********
no, I'm suggesting she needs to show why she needs a multiple entry tourist visa, I said nothing about 6 months. She can't stay in Thailand for an uninterrupted 6 months on that visa

Exactly, and that’s why I’m asking about the dummy ticket. I’m planning to travel to Vietnam for around 10 days and then return to Thailand, and I’ll have real flight tickets for that trip.

My concern is specifically the Morocco to Thailand ticket and the Thailand to Morocco return ticket, since I don’t have my exact travel dates yet. I don’t want to spend a lot on real tickets just for the visa application when I may need to change the dates depending on when the visa is issued. That’s why I was wondering whether a dummy/temporary reservation would be accepted for those two tickets
Tomasz ********

El Venus Get a ticket that is cheap to change a date- it's 200-300 dollars to change date.

If your visa application is not processed, go to Thailand without visa and await visa in cheap destination to get to Thailand (as long as you can get to Thailand on stamp).

If your country is on difficulty list, choose another country instead of Vietnam like Malaysia or Laos.

El Venus I'd be more concerned about sorting out your Vietnam visa than worrying about flights as Morocco is on Vietnam's unofficial difficult country list.

OP
Darren Grist I checked into it and honestly, I couldn’t find anything official that says Morocco is on any kind of “difficult country” list for Vietnam. I also have friends and family who travel to Vietnam regularly and they’ve never had any issues getting in. I’ll obviously sort out the Vietnam visa beforehand, but from what I can see, there doesn’t seem to be anything unusual specifically for Moroccan passport holders

$79 usd is literally 2,500+ thai baht and that CAN get you a real oneway ticket to another country. I’d suggest buying a 2,500thb - 2,700thb ticket for a date that’s within your travel period, at least it’ll be genuine. I’ve attached a screenshot of oneway flights from Bangkok to Hanoi. I mean you could change it to a different destination, and you could literally just not get on the flight anyway.

OP
Bellingham_Yuzu thank you for your reply! However, I’m referring to the Morocco to Thailand round-trip ticket, since the METV requirements ask for proof of onward/return travel. Even a one-way ticket from Morocco to Thailand is usually at least around $400, which is roughly 13,000–14,000 THB, so unfortunately it’s not comparable to a 2,500–2,700 THB Bangkok–Hanoi ticket. That’s why I’m trying to avoid buying an expensive real ticket before I even know my exact travel date.
