Hello, I have a question regarding my flight ticket from Germany to Thailand when I submit my DTV application! Do I absolutely have to include a return date or have a return ticket in the application? There are so many different opinions on this. Could someone please explain it to me in more detail? Thanks! ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’ฏ

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) to Thailand, you are not required to submit a return flight ticket. The DTV application focuses on eligibility criteria such as financial proof and other necessary documentation rather than onward travel. However, while a return or onward ticket is not mandatory for the visa application itself, airlines may still request proof of onward travel at check-in. Therefore, it's recommended to have a flexible or refundable ticket available if needed.

You donโ€™t need a return ticket to apply for the DTV. The application focuses on eligibility (financial proof + soft power/workcation docs), not onward travel.

That said, airlines may ask for onward travel at check-in when you fly, so some people book a flexible or refundable onward ticket just in case.

When airlines ask for a return ticket, just tell them you have a visa and show.

The actual flight tickets aren't required as a part of the initial form unless asked for by the embassy later.

In the form travel dates and flight numbers need to be specified.

Look for the suitable flights which, if required to be booked later by the embassy, can be booked.

The airline is the one most likely to need one when you check in.

Airlines have no right to ask for return ticket when you have a visa, it is none of their bussiness in that case.

Only without a visa they have to ask for onward travel because that is what Thai authorities arranged with the airline.

bolocks. If you have a 60 day tourist visa and your flight returns in 70. They can and sometimes do, make you buy your return ticket before letting you through. Happened to me. Seen numerous posts with others the same. Not all airlines but Thai out of London do check.

You will not be approved by the embassy for a 60 day visa without a proof of onward travel in 60 days.

But today almost nobody buys a 60 day visa anymore because visa exempt is also 60 days.

So you did apply for a 60 day visa with a 70 day flight, embassy granted and despite your visa airline did not accept?

I don't believe, but anyhow with a visa it is embassy who checks and not business of any airline, so your bolocks is bullsh1t.
