Anyone knows if border run at Measai can still be done? And if so, are we getting as many days as by air?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can still do a border run at Mae Sai. As of January 1, 2017, travelers can receive 30 days visa exemption when crossing by land, but there is a limit of two entries per calendar year. If you are considering a border run to extend your stay, make sure to plan ahead as visa regulations can change.

Hi, just wondering if you ended doing a Maesai run? My family is leaving next week (for good) but we just realized our visa is expiring Sunday. πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ We we’re thinking of going to the border to get 15 extra days (US passports).

.. I haven't yet. But according to everyone, you should be able to do it twice by land and no limit by air. Good luck!

since Dec 31st 2016 people get 30 days by land again BUT there is a limit of TWO 30 day visa exempt entries in a calendar year.

This means that as of Jan 1st you can bounce TWO times for 30 day visa exempt entries by land.

No problems at Mae Sai - Tachiliek bouncing out and in.

And it goes without saying that you have to be from one of the 51 countries that actually CAN bounce out and back at a land border to get a 30 day visa exempt entry :P
