TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the possibility of renewing their temporary Thai driver's license for 5 years at a different Department of Land Transport (DLT) area, despite their current license expiring in September 2026. The comments clarify that renewal can occur at any DLT office, but the license duration (2 or 5 years) depends on the type of visa held by the applicant, with a 5-year license being available for NON class visas, and only a 2-year license for those on a tourist visa.

They told me last time I renewed my car license that I only get 2 years because only on tourist visa, 5 years only with minimum 1 year visa.

If you have a NON class visa you will get the 5 year licence

Tourist Visa, DTV etc depends which way the wind blows

You can renew your license at any DLT office, but you'll need a residence certificate and the other requirements.

Whether or not you get a 2 year or 5 year license will be determined by what visa you are on.
