TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, expats can obtain a Thai Tax Identification Number (TIN) while on a DTV visa if they stay more than 180 days. It's possible to receive a TIN regardless of visa status, including tourist visas, provided there is assessable income. To apply, you should visit the nearest tax department.

You can get it in any type of visa. Even a stamp on arrival tourist visa. They will ask whats the purpose of getting one.

@Simon ********
no, technically not 180+ consecutively

If youre going to be pedantic be exact😀

You can stay 3 x 90days which is more than 180 but

Not consecutively but perfectly legal

it's 180 days in a calender year so leaving and coming back will mean you exceed the tax number of days within the calender year!

You can obtain a TIN if you have assessable income regardless of your visa status.
