Hey all, I have an ED visa processing in Thailand and I’m due to collect it on 25th.

If I have something urgent let’s say 23rd. Can I leave the country? Or do I have to stay while my visa is processing?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Leaving Thailand before your ED visa is processed can result in the forfeiture of the visa application, as it may be considered abandoned. Additionally, upon returning, you might face difficulties with re-approval from the ministry of education.

If you leave you'll forfeit your visa. It's also possible after you return that the ministry of education would not approve you again since you abandoned your previous application for education visa.

there's a slim chance you can go to the immigration office and tell them you need to leave for some emergency. You would need documentation to show this. Then they might be able to issue it a few days early. But generally the time to ask for special accomodations is when you're applying, before they give you the return date.
