Can I enter Thailand on a 30-day visa if my multi-entry tourist visa application is still pending?

Hi!

If someone has applied for a multi entry tourist visa but it has not be approved yet, would they be able to enter Thailand on a 30 day visa before the approval (because of flights being booked) and then leave Thailand and come back if/hopefully when their multi entry visa is approved? Or would it be recommended to wait until we hear back about the multi entry tourist visa and then enter using that? I’m wondering since it takes a while for Evisas to be approved and people may book their flights etc ahead of time and still come on an on arrival visa, does it make them unable to use the Evisa if they leave and then come back on that one?

Thank you in advance for your help!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can enter Thailand on a 30-day visa exempt entry if your multi-entry tourist visa application has not been approved yet. Once your eVisa is approved, you can print it and re-enter the country by presenting it at immigration.

The way that works is IF you applied for any eVisa but it's not approved before you fly here, you could enter on a 30 day visa exempt entry (if you come from a country that gets those) then once the eVisa is approved and they send you the PDF file that is the visa, you print it, exit/re-enter the country presenting that visa when you stamp in.

Happens quite a lot actually.

now we have had instances where the eVisa was not approved because the flight data you submitted for the visa already past (meaning you were already IN thailand) in those cases the consulates have emailed people and said send them proof of a flight from your country to thailand (just make a booking, upload it and then cancel it once they issue the visa)

thank you so much for all of that information Todd!! I really appreciate it! Does it matter if the person enters through land or air when they come back on the approved visa?

okay perfect! Thank you! I have just 1 more question! If they ask you to include the past 3 months of bank statements. Does it have to be a full statement or could it be the first page?

if they ask for specific months, you need to provide all pages covering whole period.

Thank you for your reply! so this was their request “Please include

Bank statement for the past 3 months with minimum balanced $2,000 in the account.”

If it isn’t possible to provide statements for $2,000 for all 3 months but for the current month and on arrival there would be at least $2,000 and would the application still not be approved?

to get the Thai Visa you will need to submit the REQUIRED documentation and amounts of funds required for the period stated: 3 MONTHS.

Suggest you ask your Thai Embassy or Consulate for clarification of your funds issue.

What is your passport nation?

Are you now in your home country?
