Can I leave Indonesia after my Thai visa interview, or do I have to wait for approval?

Nov 18, 2025
I am in Nusa Penida, Bali. I received Visa interview email today around 4:30 pm local time. The scheduled time for the interview tomorrow in Thai Embassy, Jakarta is 9:30 am Jakarta time. I can't attend the interview tomorrow morning because of the unavailability of the transport (Penida to Bali ferry). Did anyone ever reschedule their interview?

Updated:

I have rescheduled the interview via email.

Question:

Can I leave Indonesia after the interview is done? Or do I have to wait here until the approval?

Update:

I attended the visa interview today. At the end of the interview, the interviewer mentioned that I must not leave Indonesia before I get an update, and they might ask for more documents. But after 5-6 hours, I received the visa approval email.

Thanks to everyone who helped me with the information. I used a lot of information / helpful documents shared by other people in this group. Special thanks to them.

TLDR : Answer Summary

After being informed not to leave Indonesia before receiving an update, they later received visa approval the same day. You don’t have to stay in Jakarta but you do have to stay in Indonesia. Good luck!

If you hadn’t been able to attend the interview, would that mean rejection?🥹

You remain there until the visa is processed. Usually it's not long after the interview

If they decide to give you visa after interview, you receive an email same day, mostly within the next 2-5 hours. Your second question is not relevant then.

Seriously?! You were lucky to be allowed to reschedule, so don't push it. Stay in Jakarta and follow the rules, you're applying for a 5-year visa!

Participante anónimo 183 the rule ISN'T to stay in Jakarta. The rule is to stay in the country, which the OP did. OP hasn't break any rule.

not yet, but OP is asking if he can leave the country after the interview, and the answer to that should be NO.

Just be near the embassy of your application, no good being 1000km away, if you really want the DTV you have pre-plan be ready.

the rule is you have to be in the country or countries the embassy serves. They are in Indonesia. You are allowed to apply from anywhere in Indonesia, as long as you stay in the country during the application. It's a big country. Most embassies do the whole process online and don't require a physical interview. They emailed the embassy and rescheduled the interview giving time to travel to Jakarta, so obviously that is all fine. You're not being helpful here.
