So I’ve just finished the interview at the Thai embassy in the Netherlands. I applied for the dtv muy Thai for 6 months. From October to April I had an ED visa
Documents I’ve sent them
-bank statement for over 6 months
-proof of ownership of my house
-a letter from the Dutch tax department
-energy bill
-phone bill
They then asked me to provide all my passport pages so I sent them
So today the interview. I’ve printed all these documents but he told me he did not need them.
He asked me what kind of work I do. I told him I don’t work and I’m living from my savings. The money comes from an inheritance So he asked from who the money came.
He asked me where the gym was that I will do the course. How many hours I will train en how many days. He also asked me me what I’m doing in the time I’m not training so I told him that I’m learning kitesurfing, following private Thai class and that I like to spend time with my friends. I told him I’ve been coming to thailand for 10 years for holiday.
And then he said yes I saw your were studying Thai how is your Thai. So I told him nit noi:p that I know some words but I find it difficult to put them in a correct sentence.
So he asked me how many hours I had Thai class. Told him the days and times
He then made the comment that I really like thailand so I told him yes 🙂 and he said that they do many of these interviews to decide if the course matches up with this visa because it is a long term visa he said
I will get an awnser in the coming days so I willl update this post then. Fingers crossed 🤞

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user recently completed an interview at the Thai embassy in the Netherlands to obtain a DTV Muy Thai visa for six months. They provided various documents, including proof of bank statements and residency, and discussed their financial situation and plans for training in Thailand. The interview involved questions about their stay in Thailand, language proficiency, and intentions during their visit. Responses from the community expressed optimism regarding the user's visa approval, with insights into similar experiences and the evolving visa application process.
Wondering if people were ever rejected after the interview?

hey, I got approved. I also had an interview! And I think your interview was better. You will get approved. it took like 16 days for me to get it. Just wait. I know its torture to wait but it will work out!
These soft options are probably being abused so it’s likely they will close those down in the future, they are looking into this area, workcaction is the best option imo but obviously you can’t be unemployed.
Good one. When the UK Embassy were issuong Visas in Thailand it was usually a local Thai interviewed Thai's. It could be hit and miss but that is all I am saying 🙂 Hope everything is fine for you - from your description it looks OK. Just like the UK and others it looks like they want to check you can support yourself in Thailand without working illegally. Pretty standard really. That is why Immigration could possibly ask people to show funds upon re-entry?
Well my assumption was that i had to come to proof that im in the netherlands because he asked me about the missing of the exit stamp in my passport.I told him i went trough these automatic gates so i got no stamp.
And i also assumed they wanted me to log in to the bank account but no interest for that. I have no interest in working illegally and i have the funds to back that up. well fingers crossed , met flight is on the 5th of june so now im nervous of not gettting it in time
For western countries the key questions are 1) Reason to return 2) No recourse to public funds for a visitors visa. As you say though it must have been ensuring you were in Netherlands but it must have been more thyan that. They could have asked for "Proof of life" with a current local newspaper in hand pictured on Dam Square :-)
hmm yes he also made a comment, something like they do these interviews all the time because its a long term visa and not easy. to get. Well other countries it is easy to get. And that the course should match it because it is a long term visa.
Well im not sure if i gave the right anwnsers, told him im in the position not work for a few years.
I think you are fine - you seem to have covered what he was checking. Netherlands do seem to be taking this more seriously than others. That is probably a local decision. An ambitious Ambassador does not want any black marks on their record :-)
Standardisation would be nice but it never happens. My best pal of 40 years is a British Ambassador. He is very happy that he no longer has to deal with visa's and passports these days. It is mainly outsourced. He can get on with his primary role of soft power and commerce 🙂 🙂 I had quite the discussion with him last week in London. He could not beleive the MFA had the power to think up a visa and issue it without the interior ministry ie immigration, having their say.

thanks for the update. sounds like a good interview and surely an approval.
May i ask why you think this? I do hope so yes but really unsure about this. When i told him the money on my account comes from an inheritance i was not sure if I pronounced this correctly. So i asked him do you understand and he was a bit annoyed and said yes i speak english....
So i said that i was not sure about my pronouncation and that's why i asked.
it sounds pretty positive what you write and i dont see any thing that could lead to a denial in that conversation. i would expect an approval. Anyway, good luck :)
