Does anyone know if you can get a photocopy of your university degree legalized for visa purposes? We live in in Hong Kong, so I'm hoping the US consulate here will legalize the copy, and then I can get it stamped at the HK Thai consulate.
My diploma is safely packed away in the States, and I only have a photocopy with me. Not sure if I need to track down the original
Many thanks!
TLDR : Answer Summary
The query pertains to the possibility of legalizing a photocopy of a university degree for visa purposes while residing in Hong Kong. The person is unsure if they need to obtain the original diploma, as it is stored in the United States. Comments from the community suggest that legalization often requires showing both the original and photocopy, and one respondent shared their experience of being asked for the original at immigration in Bangkok. Another suggestion was to obtain a notarized copy of the transcript directly from the university.
