I am currently on my extension of my visa exempt stamp, expires 25th March, I work in China, but as my school is still closed and cannot go back to China (Live at the school). I wish to go on a Non-0 visa (married with kids), as borders are closed, is it possible that immigration will extend for another 30 days as cannot exit to nearby border or can they give out non-0 visa without exiting Thailand. Any advice will be appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on an extension of their visa exempt stamp, expiring on March 25, and seeks advice on converting to a Non-O visa while facing challenges due to closed borders. Comments suggest applying for a 60-day extension based on family ties if married to a Thai national, with specific documents required for the application.

Go to immigration and apply for a 60 day extension based on visiting your Thai wife. I did this in CM yesterday. Need marriage certificate, KorRor2, house registration, wife ID, copies of all and your passport entry and photo pages. May also require a photo of you both in front of your house and a hand drawn map, but it’s is not asked for at every immigration office. 1900 THB.

Note - No need for 400k in the bank.

married with kids, by this you mean you are married with a Thai National or do you have children with the Thai nationality and are you the legal parent by court order?

If yes, you must have at least 21 days left on your current stay to apply for the conversion to a visa

Can I get another 30 day extension first without the letter from uk embassy, explain that wish to go onto a non-0 visa as cannot do a border run do get this visa. I do not have the 400,000 in my bank account. I am currently on my 30 day extension from my visa exempt stamp.

If you have a Thai bank account with 400.000 Thb on it, you can apply first for the 30 day Extension of Stay and then directly for conversion into the Non Immigrant O visa, but this depend if your Immigration office is authorized to do this conversion.

Alternative is to ask which one to apply first, or the 30 day Extension of Stay an then a 60 day Extension of Stay based on visiting family.

Thanks for the reply, yes, married to a Thai national and have children. Will immigration be able to extend my stay as cannot cross the border to get the non-0 visa. I not too sure the embassy might give a letter or not in my case, as their are flights out of Thailand.
