Hi all,

I'm staying here with a visa exemption (which will probably expire on 31st of July) and I'd like to know if it's possible to apply for a Family visa without living the country, given the fact that it's not possible to fly to neighbouring countries at the moment.

I have all the necessary documentation to apply for a Non-O Family visa but I can't go back to my home country in Europe (France) as my kid already started school here, I'm his sole responsible person and nothing is certain about being able to come back to Thailand after living the country.

nb: I already asked my embassy, they won't deliver a letter for extension to tourist visa/stamp holders.

Thanks for your input,

Ben

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is inquiring about the possibility of applying for a Non-O Family visa while on a visa exemption in Thailand, as they cannot leave the country due to uncertainty regarding re-entry. They have the necessary documentation but are hesitant to return to their home country, France, because of family commitments.

I entered in early February with my APEC card. 3 months expired early May. I have both Thai wife and child here. Which center to I go in Bangkok to apply for 60 day Family Extension? Main or Temporary office? Thanks in advance.

Nope you can't apply for a Non-O visa off amnesty.

You might be able to apply for a 60 day visit thai family extension for 1900baht AND then if you went thru family court to get granted parental rights you could apply for a Non-O visa based on raising a half thai child by showing 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only

(y) great BUT you can't apply for a non-O from amnesty, you need to FIRST go get the 60 day visit thai family extension (so you have a hard stamp extension in your passport with enough time on it to apply for the in country Non-O)

I wonder if I can do that without leaving the country due to these specific circumstances

There is no specific circumstances, you either meet the requirements to get the non-O visa; have the proof of funds AND the required days left on your current 30 day visa exempt entry stamp, 60 day tourist visa entry stamp, 30 day extension or 60 day extension stamp and you can apply for the Non-O
