TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus among commenters appears to be that filming interviews in Thailand on a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) might be considered illegal work, as it involves conducting activities typically reserved for Thai citizens, even if no income is currently being generated. While some participants argue that creating content for online platforms is permissible, cautioning against potential legal repercussions is prevalent. It's noted that discussing and involving locals in interviews complicates the situation, and many recommend obtaining a clear answer in writing from immigration authorities before proceeding.
On a DTV it's fine. Interviewing someone for a video is well within the bounds of content creation activities allowed on a DTV. It irks me when people say you can't work in Thailand on a DTV. You absolutely CAN work in Thailand on a DTV, you just can't work for a Thai company. The DTV was literally designed for digital nomads to come and work (for themselves or a foreign employer) in Thailand.

Technically it's work in Thailand, and therefore illegal.
But the odds of getting caught for it, is incredibly high.

It is assumed you will be after monetary gain in some shape or form if not now then later using the same content. Not worth the hassle just get the appropriate paperwork.

You will never get a good answer from a group filled with people who are really mad that this visa exists.
Anonymous participant there are people who paid for elite visa, and they might be mad now π€£ people who cant have dtv, are the jealous ones and post anonymous bs on the web because they have no better things to do π
You're not answering the question. The OP asks if its allowed... The answer is no. It will involve locals. That doesn't mean the person will get caught.

Anonymous participant 993 it does not state really anything that this sort of work is not allowed. The income generated from the videos is paid out from an overseas source into an overseas bank. Itβs fine.
- that is a very simple understanding of the policy. I worked for the UN. I was paid for via an overseas source into an overseas bank but at that time still required a work permit.

No, you can't conduct any type of activity/work (that is not online based) whether it's generating money or not. You will kind of replacing the work of a Thai person and thus it is considered as working. And you will involve locals.

Anonymous participant 993 but you can create content for online purposes in the form of an interview such as a podcast as a remote working content creator β¦.

Yes, but you're doing what a Thai person could do. That's what they are trying to avoid. And you will also directly involve other persons on-site.

Anonymous participant 993 so a Thai person will do travel videos in English for an English audience on someoneβs YouTube channel? I call BS.
There are literally 4 people in instagram I know right now that are quite famous making money off it. Also on the DTV.
