TLDR : Answer Summary
Steve from Australia inquired about extending his TR multiple entry visa, which allows him to stay in Thailand for 60 days per entry. He seeks clarification on whether he needs to do a border run for an additional 30 days or if he can extend his stay at the local immigration office. Respondents explained that the visa is valid for 6 months and that he can extend his stay by 30 days at immigration for a fee, as long as he enters before the visa expiration date.

Thanx for that, I deleted my comment

I think what you (and Ellie) said is much more a plausible scenario

Just FYI. The last day on your multiple entry visa (tourist, non-immigrant) is the last day you can enter Thailand using that visa, stamped in for the duration on the visa.

okay the way the 6 month METV works is;

- the visa is valid for entry for 6 months from the date it's issued

- each entry gets you 60 days

- you can extend each entry ONCE by 30 days at the immigration office for 1900baht

As long as you enter the country before the visa itself (the sticker) expires 9which you say is July 5th) you'll get another 60 day entry stamp.

you couldn't get a METV in Lao, you have to get it in the country your passport comes from BEFORE you come here

many people use the METV to stay in thailand almost 9 months (with 60 day entries and 30 day extensions) ๐Ÿ™‚
