Do we need to book a return flight within the 60 days of our tourist visa for Thailand?
Looking for some advice.
We are booked to arrive end of November from Australia to Thailand. We are applying for the tourist visa. (60 days) and was wanting to extend in country. We are wanting to stay approximately 70 days. Here’s the question, are we able to just book return flights for the day back that we want or do we need to have a flight booked within the 60 day tourist visa and then try swapping it once we arrive?

Never been asked for a ticket out at immigration even though each time I had bought a temp fake ticket because I didn't knw my onward plans.

Book the ticket for the length of the visa. Change your flight when you change your visa.

Dennis Zoldi I just got my Tourist E visa when I apply for the E visa with Thai embassy in London online I send my flight details with E ticket and the cost they give me my tourist E visa knowing that I be in Thailand for 89 days I ask a agent in Thailand will I get a problem they say no as the Thai embassy in London know how long you are in Thailand but everyone on Facebook say you got to get a flight out of Thailand within the 60 day

its not the embassy and its not Thai immigration its the airlines. Some won't let you board without a ticket for some form of onward travel within the limit of your visa or visa exempt entry "ie" now 60 and 30 days respectively. I've no idea why the airlines have the authority to refuse you but they do.Peter *********

Suzanne Dorn no I apply for a tourist E visa at Thai embassy London online I sent my flight details and show my E ticket with the cost and within 2 days I got my tourist E visa and I going for 89 days no out flight before 60 days

I'm in same position have had a good look at everything and all you need is onward ticket before 60 days ends so I'm going for bus ticket Bangkok to Vientiane Laos, around $30 and then cancel get refund once your in Thailand or you could get bus ticket from udon thani only $6 and small amount to lose 👌👍

With an actual tourist visa, you'll most likely be fine. Airline staff tend to not check into it if you have an actual visa.
