Can I extend my Non-Immigrant O-A visa at Chaengwattana with overlapping health insurance policies?

Question regarding Non-Immigrant O-A visa extension at Chaengwattana......my current extension is stamped until January 13, 2021. My P.C. health insurance expires on January 13, 2021. I want to go in for my visa extension a few weeks prior to the expiration day for 'safety reasons'. When I get my new P.C. health insurance policy before my extension meeting can I have it pick-up where my current one expires (ie - - start it on January 13, 2021 running to January 13, 2022? My current existing policy will still be in effect when I go in (like December 28, 2020); new one won't start until the 13th of January 2021. I will have the documentation for my new policy when I go in for the extension.

Thank you for for guidance......don't want to get burned again this year.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is asking if they can extend their Non-Immigrant O-A visa at Chaengwattana with their current health insurance expiring on the same day their new policy begins. Comments confirm that bringing both insurance policies is acceptable, as long as the user is insured for the duration of the extension.

I just went through this at Udon Thani. My visa expires in december but my insurance is good through march. So they gave me an extension until march and I have to go back and renew again

i started the process too late. I messaged the agent who sold me the policy and asked him if they could do that. I didn't hear back from him. And next week is so many holidays, I wont get anything done then. Better to take the hit then end up being late

why didn't you just renew your policy for another year? It would have started when this current one runs out. :/ that way you could have gotten a full year extension :(

That's what I was hoping......my insurance agent didn't seem to think that was the case at CW.

Thanks for the insight, Tod.

I did this in October. Bring both insurance certificates with you. They will then check to see that both policies are in their database.

You need to be insured when you apply, AND you need to be insured for the next year (to cover the extension you're getting)

There is no problem bringing in your current policy showing it's valid until Jan 13, 2021, AND your new policy showing it takes effect on Jan 13 and runs until 2022.

That's done commonly when you apply on O-A extensions.
