TLDR : Answer Summary
Extending a DTV (Destination Thailand Visa) at Samut Prakan Immigration is theoretically possible but can be complicated. Many users suggest that a border bounce is a simpler alternative. It's important to have sufficient buffer days and meet the requirements, such as having 500k baht in your bank account for the last 30 days. Additionally, you need to have at least 15 days remaining on your entry stamp for the extension process.

Forget about doing the 180 day extension at your local Thai Immigration office.

DO a BORDER BOUNCE... leave Thailand and reenter Thailand. Gets you a New 180 day stamp.

You're just planning on going this week, or your entry stamp expires this week? You need at least 15 days left on your stamp to apply for DTV extension.

Just border bounce, not worth the hassle

you better have enough buffer days in case you have to visit multiple times as many did… but it should be possible at any immigration office 🤷‍♀️

I haven't seen extension post in Samut Prakan during these months

Anonymous participant It was very early. Just after the first 6 months. The first was Krabi. I remember Samut Prakan as it looked easier than Krabi or Bangkok

I think lately, immigration restricts and not give extension easily .so I just ask.I think many times going to immigration waste time

Anonymous participant Samut Prakan stuck with me as it seemed easier than others. It is true though immigration are not fans of the DTV.

In theory its possible but not straightforward so you might find it simpler to just do a border bounce. I'm not sure about Samut Prakan specifically but generally immigration offices want to see all of your information updated to the present time and 500k baht in your bank for the last 30 days.
