Can I extend my 30-day visa exemption stamp immediately after arrival in Thailand?

Can I get my 30-day visa exemption stamp extended on the first day of its validity? i.e.: go to immigration office straight out of the airport, with a few-hour-old stamp? It would be great if I didn't have to plan an extra trip later this month just to get the extension... thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The ability to extend a 30-day visa exemption stamp immediately after arrival in Thailand depends on the immigration office you visit. Some offices may allow the extension on the same day, while others may require that at least 15 days remain on the stamp.

depends on what immigration office you're going to use. Some will but some want less than 15 days left.
