TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is traveling to Thailand on November 4th but is facing issues with obtaining the necessary Thai medical coverage. They are inquiring about entering Thailand with an entry stamp and applying for a 1-year retiree OA visa in Udon Thani. Comments suggest that one can enter Thailand visa-exempt initially for 45 days and then apply for a NON-O extension based on retirement, with requirements including financial proof. It's important to note that obtaining an OA visa inside Thailand isn't possible; it must be applied for from a Thai Embassy or Consulate in the applicant's home country.

you are confused about some things. You can not get a type OA retirement visa inside Thailand. You can only get this from a Thai Embassy, or Consulate, in your home country. You can get a type O extension based on retirement, but to extend that you must have at least bt800k in a Thai bank account in your name only for at least two months before you apply, and you must show that it came from an overseas source. For the income method from pensions, you must have 12 months of at least bt65k a month every month deposited into your Thai bank account in your name only. There are no exceptions, and there is no more "equivalent" adding up of your deposits. You can not be short one month, and over another month to make up the difference. It no longer works that way. For immigration here lawyer statements concerning your pension amounts aren't accepted, only a notarized letter from your embassy is accepted, and the UK no longer issues those letters. If you get married in Thailand it is pretty easy to get the type O extension based on Thai wife. There are lots of documents to get, but not difficult, and at least bt400k in your Thai bank account for at least two months before you apply. For the income method you need to show 12 months of deposits of at least bt40k each month, with no exceptions, and they must come from an overseas source. This is the visa extension I've been on the last 5 years. To get married in Thailand the only thing you need from your embassy is a notarized right to marry letter, that says you are either single, widowed, or divorced, with the last two requiring additional documents, the death certificate, or divorce decree.

Thanks for your response ,my confusion compounded being visually impaired and let down In getting the Thai medical cover mandatory for 1 year oa retiree visa I obtained before 2019 .I'm due in Thailand 4 Nov and will get entry stamp in passport at airport.I would need extension to give time for appointment at U K Rmbassy for freedom to marry affidavit ,do the necessary then back to Udon Thani to marry and apply for Spouse visa .Once I leave UK Nov 3 for direct flight I have no home there _rental ceases.Can I get extension on entry stamp _ is o visa ? And obtain Udon Thani ?

you will get a visa exempt stamp for 45 days then you can extend that for another 30 days. You don't have to wait until you get here to make your appointment at the embassy. Make it now for a day, or two after you get here.

Thanks for further advice and sorry for being a nuisance .I intend to open a Bangkok Bank account on 4 Nov using UK banknotes to open ,then contact my main pension provider for direct transfer to Thailand ,first would be early December and use UK ATM card and add to Nov deposit .Med insu cover paid monthly from U K state pension in U K bank ,balance withdrawn on that ATM and paid into Thai bank.For showing from UK presume I print on- line UK bank copy statement to satisfy Bangkok Bank ?

be fully aware that immigration does not accept ATM withdrawals and then depositing into your Thai bank account as proof of foreign transfers. Immigration only accepts direct deposits into your Thai bank account. Many use the Wise app for transfers from foreign accounts. But again, immigration does not accept ATM withdrawals and deposits no matter what documentation you have. They only accept Thai bank statements that show exactly where the deposits came from.

once you get your Thai bank account, and I suggest Bangkok Bank, or Kasikorn bank, then you should be able to set up your pensions for direct deposit into your Thai bank account. I do this with Bangkok Bank with no problems.

The UK embassy do not issue income affidavits anymore. Your only options for a “marriage” visa is to have 400,000 baht in a Thai bank or 12 x 40,000 baht monthly deposits. Its a two step process if you enter visa exempt. 1st you apply for an in country non O visa (90 days) and when that’s winding down you apply for a year extension off of that. You do not need insurance for a in country non O nor extensions off of it.

Many thanks Stuart .I understand UK Embassy don't issue income affidavits but I have original pension provider and UK bank statements solicitor verified as genuine documents to prove I exceed monthly Thai figure when direct pension transfer arranged.Stuck in UK over 3 years due to covid restrictions and monthly transfers to partner for whole period ,rented in UK .

@Merv ******
Sorry but none of that is going to help you getting a visa/extension in Thailand. It’s 400k in a Thai bank. After your first year you could show 12x 40k+ transfers.

You can get now 45 days , initially. Then ask emigration the procedure to do family visa. You require , if am not wrong, 60k baht pension a month, or 400k baht in bank and your marriage certificate. You just fly and go udon. The emigration its after the 2nd rondabout, they speak english fluently. Good luck

I advice you, easier, to put 800k baht in bank, waiting 3 month , then you can have 1 year visa.

So you don't need any pension or marriage cettificate. It called " retirement visa, but you should be at least 50 years old.
