Hi. Sorry if this is a stupid question. I have just received a brand new passport and I'm wanting to know if I can do a land border run and receive 30 days. I have already done 2 this year in my old passport.... Will they be able to pick it up?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the possibility of doing a land border run in Thailand using a new passport after having already completed two border runs this year with an old passport. Responses from the community indicate that immigration records are maintained across passports, and previous entries would be visible. Thus, attempting another border run would likely be denied, regardless of the user holding a new passport.

I believe you can fly back to Thailand and you’ll be ok but I would have the cash, accommodation and onward ticket in case they ask

, not possible, they see in system and also in your old passport.

Do not know who you talked to, but the 15 day entry changed into 30 days at 31 Dec 2016.

Thank you for that correction.

I just talked to immigration. Land border bounces (at least at Myanmar) are 15 days.

NO WAY, do not even try it. Immigration is using a database and your passports will be matched and it will show you already did two border bounces this year.

The immigration officer will be able to see all your previous entries / history irrespective of having a new passport.

Normally you should be good to go mate. From my knowledge a new passport is like a clean slate.

1) she liked you 2) she had no clue 3) she was talking about getting a visa outside the country and a denial or reject stamp might be bad for that

I talked to an officer at CW when I had an issue with stamp in my passport and she told me that the best for me would be to get a new passport as they don’t record it in computers. It was 5 months ago... why did she tell me that when it’s not true then?

👍🏻thx

The rules is two Visa Exempt Entries a Calendar year. Extensions of Stay, tourist Visa, ED visa or what every visa or Extension you use is NOT a Visa Exempt Entry.

Robert LagasGood to know, thanks.

If I had one visa exempt stamp and the 30 day extension this year does that count as two stamps or will I still be able to get s second visa exempt stamp?

@Angelo *****
Royal Thai Police Immigration Bureau is already for some years using a computer system called a database. And is available on all check points and Immigration Offices. Your passport get scanned and the information gets into the database. A new passport will match an old passport unless you also change name, dob, gender, nationality etc. Sometimes computer systems are nice.

Your knowledge is not up to date. No problem, but don't give advice if you don't know.

Your knowledge is wrong Angelo..

No, you are permitted two land border crossings per year, per person and NOT per passport.
Robert ********
Immigration computers have a complete record of your crossings!
