Can I Do a Border Bounce Without Losing My Work Permit and Family Visas?

Mar 17, 2020

Swedish and British passports.

I had all paperwork ready for my multiple entry b visa application - as well as my husband and son's multiple o visas as dependents but as we all know, Malaysia is now closed.

I'm stamped in to the 24th of April.

My last multiple visa expires on the 23rd of march. To buy me some time, I planned to go to ranong and do a border bounce to Myanmar to get another 90 days.

However, my lawyer (who's English is very bad so maybe lost in translation) tells me that if I do the border bounce, I will loose my work permit and my husband and son will not be able to get new visas again.

Is this really true? I don't want to risk loosing my work permit but it seems really strange.

Could the fact that the invitation letter has been issued somehow makes a border bounce option "invalid"

Please help me out.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about potential complications with their work permit and dependents' visa applications after considering a border bounce to Myanmar before their visa expiration. They seek clarification on whether doing a border bounce would indeed jeopardize their work permit and their family's ability to obtain new visas, especially given the circumstances with an issued invitation letter.

Ahh, could be ‘lost in translation’..

WP validity should be more than 8months when you apply non-b multiple entry.

So, what your lawyer tried to tell you COULD be that, if you get another 90days and wait to apply new visas for your whole family, you cannot do it with your current WP. In that case you need to seek some workaround.

Workaround might be:

Cancel your current WP and apply new one then apply visas

or

a few times of single entry NonB (and others) to get back to the rail

Or

get ready to be able to apply extension inside country, etc, etc...

When is your wp renewal? You will get another 90days if you go before 23rd of March. Your son can make ED visa and your husband depending on him. That shouldn't be a problem.

work permit valid until 8 of January next year. I'm just confused about my lawyers warning. But I think that it's lost in translation. Shim can get an education visa and Stef dependant but 500 000 in bank for five months for that one

all I know is you can get another 90 day entry on your currently valid visa. Now as far as anything else you're doing with your work permit, your visa applications that you haven't turned in yet for you and who ever. I have no idea.

This is correct if its single entry as far as im aware. We are currently trying to find the answer to this too. xx

have multiple entry

what is correct? They have a multi-entry visa they can bounce out and back every day on it if they wanted to and get a new 90 day stamp.

if you are on a multiple entry visa you can bounce out before the visa expires and get a new 90 day entry, and you're still fine.

It sounds strange. If you come back before 23 you will get 90 more days.

You need to ask your lawyer why. Maybe bring someone to translate for you
