Just for future reference as I'm not sure if my immigration office (im not even sure what immigration office i will need to use l will be settling in Sangkha sometime next year )have the capability of changing a tourist visa to a Non O married to a thai national visa within there office.

The question l have is

Can you still apply in your next nearest office that will convert or would I have to leave the Kingdom to get that visa ?

Australian passport holder.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is uncertain if the immigration office they will use in Sangkha has the capability to convert a tourist visa to a Non-O visa for married individuals. They seek clarification on whether they can apply at any immigration office for this conversion or if they must leave Thailand to obtain the visa.

You can apply for a Non Immigrant O visa based on being married with a Thai National before you make your way into Thailand. With that visa you can 60 days after arrival apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay based on being married. Saves you applying for a Tourist Visa which only gives you 60 days on arrival, get all things sorted out for application for the visa, which gives you 90 days and 60 days later apply again for the Extension of Stay.

no, if the Immigration Office that servces the area where you live does not have the clearance to perform a conversion you have to leave the country and apply for a visa at a Thai Consulate.

You must apply in the province you will be living in and they will ask you proof of it plus get you to draw a map from your home to the immigration office
