Can I Convert a Medical Visa to a Non-Immigrant O Visa in Thailand?

Hello,

Need an advice on visa conversion inside Thailand.

US passport, want to retire in Thailand.

Currently, Thailand Consulate is not issuing non-immigrant visa type O-A.

However, since July 1, Thailand will open the medical visa applications with 14 days mandatory quarantine at the hospital. My husband qualified for this visa. I qualify as his attendant.

If we decide to persuade that route, would it be possible to convert the medical visa into non-immigrant O visa inside Thailand for my husband (based on being over 50 and meeting financial requirements)?

Or do we both must exit Thailand once the medical visa expire?

Appreciate your help.

You need to contact the Thai Embassy where you are now at to make application for special permission to enter Thailand for special medical care.

If granted you will receive Certificate of Entry....

Following which you are expected to depart Thailand.

Before you proceed with your plans...

I suggest you talk to Thai Immigration and the Thai Embassy regarding your wish to retire in Thailand following the important medical care allowed entry for your husband.

You CAN go from a 30 day visa exempt entry OR a 60 day tourist visa entry to an in country Non-O visa at an immigration office if you have between 15 and 21 days left on your entry stamp.

There is no telling BUT as a rule they issue TOURIST visas to thailand for medical reasons under category MT.

No one can tell you if you can or can't at this time because they haven't let anyone in based on that reason yet.
