Can I change my Tourist Visa to a Special Tourist Visa in Thailand?
Hi all - does anyone have experience with changing their Visa type from a Tourist Visa to a Special Tourist Visa? Appreciate any advice - thanks!
Summary so far
The consensus among commenters is that changing a Tourist Visa to a Special Tourist Visa is not possible from within Thailand. The Special Tourist Visa must be obtained from a Thai consulate outside of the country before arrival, and many consulates have announced the cessation of issuing this visa after July 3rd.

OPAh... that's a shame. I thought so too - but saw this option on the Immigration Appointment Reservation site - and had a bit of hope. Appreciate the responses guys!

you can change visas but not to STV. Things like education, retirement, employment are all common. Benjamin ******
A special tourist visa can only be acquired OUTSIDE of Thailand. Most Thai consulates have a notice saying they will stop selling the Special Tourist Visa after July 3rd.

You needed to BUY a Special Tourist Visa from the thai consulate in your country before you came here.
