Hi, can anyone tell me if you can buy a motorcycle on a 2 month tourist visa as need transport and I’m looking to get retirement visa when it runs out.

Was hoping to get car but need 12 month visa for that. If can’t , you have any ideas

On how to get your own transport as living rural, thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can buy a motorcycle or a car on a 2-month tourist visa in Thailand. Most provinces allow vehicle purchases with just a valid visa stamp in your passport, while Bangkok may require a residency certificate due to stricter regulations. Expect to pay in cash, as financing options are typically unavailable for those on short-term visas.

You can buy a car as well as a motorbike on a tourist visa. But expect to pay cash and not get payments

You should have no issues buying a car or motorcycle on a tourist visa . Unless you are trying to register it in Bangkok.

You need a resident certificate to put it in your name and Bangkok won't give one without a long term visa and having done a 90 day report.

Everywhere else should be fine.

Some demand a Long Stay visa for car. I’ve bought two motorbikes in Buriram not far from Khon Kaen on visa exemption my self.

should be fine . I registered my first bike to a hotel in Chiang Mai on a tourist visa .

If you buy off a dealer they should help with registration ( for a cost) or private you can go to the DLT office yourself or most used car/ bike dealers will do it for you for a fee even if you didn't buy it from them .

I bought a new car last year, the dealer registered it with DLT for me, free of charge. I had to give them a certificate of residence from immigration and they took a copy of my passport.
