Apologies if this is not the right forum to ask this question although it is visa related.
I am marrying my Thai fiancée in February. I have been in Ubon Ratchatani since the end of October. I had a 60 day tourist visa and did a visa run to Kuala Lumpur before that expired and was given a new 60 day tourist visa which is sufficient time for me to get married, particularly if I pay my 1,900 THB for a 30 day extension.
My question relates to private health insurance:
I have heard that the level of cover that I am required to have to satisfy Thai Immigration visa requirements is not enough and I should budget for a higher level of cover. I am currently covered by my travel insurance.
I would very much appreciate any advice from members of this group who live in Thailand and have experience of the private health system here.
What level of cover should I get?
Cheers.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice regarding the necessity of private health insurance when applying for a marriage visa in Thailand. They mention that they are currently on a tourist visa and plan to marry their Thai fiancée. Several community members respond, clarifying that health insurance is not a requirement for the marriage visa (Non-O visa), but advise caution regarding travel insurance and to check local immigration office regulations.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.

While you don't need any health insurance you do need to check the marriage visa requirements of your local office. Some can't issue Non-O visas at all and some others won't issue a Non-O based on marriage until you have been married for 2 months
we’ll excuse me for having the audacity to ask a question in a forum which I thought had been set-up for people like me who don’t know the ins and out to ask questions 🙄
