TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation revolves around a person's inquiry about applying for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) while training at a Muay Thai gym in Chiang Mai, despite living in Bangkok. Commenters express skepticism about the viability of this plan due to the geographical distance and the potential scrutiny from authorities. Some suggest that the DTV application process may not require a specific address in Thailand, making the scenario possible, while others warn of the risks involved, including the possibility of deportation for any perceived dishonesty.

As long as they don't check anything, this cheat might work when they don't ask for address where you want to stay.

Johnny47 : i live in pattaya . Gym name is " evo360" . No you don' t need. 6 month training plan is minimum. If you get the dtv it's guilty 5 years ( can stay 180 days , than refresh 180 days or do border run - have to do report every 90 days )

According embassy and immigration office you need to comply to visa requirements every time you enter, but normally no checks. Some people here think no checks is same as no requirements, but they don't have proof of that. What is a guilty visa?

Do you mean 15k monthly for Muey Thai, That should be easy. I pay that for Tiger Muey Thai in Phuket. But by putting your location in Bangkok and training in Chaing Mai is absolutely ridiculous. That part should be common sense.

Why would you go to Muay Thai in Chiang Mai if you live in Bangkok? Are you trying to cheat the system?

Do you really think you’ll get away with that? Good luck with the deportation and ban 🤣

Location won't be a problem. You will apply outside of Thailand and won't need to show an address in Thailand. The DTV is flexible. With our gym you can come up to CM and whip through your classes whenever you want, have a Muay Thai holiday.

any part of Chiang Mai: it’s a city with a village vibe. Find the old city and go 5-20 minutes in any direction. Tons of cafes, restaurants, massage, friendly people, western brands.

Chiang Mai doesn’t have all the brands BKK does. And isn’t a

city.

What you gain is nature, better prices, the friendliest region of people and their love for pork.

They are not stupid. Ask yourself how you can regularly go to a Muay Thai gym in Chaing Mai, 700km away from Bangkok, where you say you live? You apply at Thai embassies for the DTV, and you are assuming they don't know the geography/map of their own country.

How much does a bangkok gym cost?

Remember: this cost is once. If you spread it over 5 YEARS of having the visa and a bangkok gym is 30,000฿ you will have paid less than $100/year to be registered there.

I think there are smarter ways to save/invest money than trying to “cheat” the system because you don’t like spending money.

what matters is he still trains even if he’s in BKK, if he can show photos/videos and prove he’s still training it’s okay

Anonymous participant 459 How can he train in Chaing Mai while living in Bangkok? From my understanding remote training has not been accepted, as if he is training remotely he can do that from anywhere in the world, and doesn't have to be living in Thailand to do it. You seriously think you can actually live 700km away from where you supposedly train regularly? Like I say, they are not stupid

: Year-round pollution is much worse in Bangkok than in Chiang Mai. This year, there was no burning season noticeable at all in Chiang Mai. Bangkok has terrible air quality year-round.

So you had a Google and you found one article in The Nation. 5555 So your single point of data is your considered hypothesis? Guessing you missed the statistics course at university. PS: Anecdotes do not make data regarding your other point and your domestic arrangements.
