I would like to ask for your advice regarding my visa status. I am currently holding a language school visa (short course), which will expire in August.

May I apply for a DTV in Ho Chi Minh without cancelling my existing education visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the possibility of applying for a DTV visa in Ho Chi Minh while holding a language school visa that expires in August. The comments highlight that while it is typically not allowed to apply for a new visa while holding a valid visa without it being canceled, there are nuances depending on whether one is on a visa or an extension of stay. Additionally, the importance of a re-entry permit is mentioned for maintaining status during the application process.

If you're on an actual visa no, as you would need a re-entry permit to keep it alive otherwise it just dies on exit, but youcan't apply for another visa while still holding a valid one.. If your on an extension of stay you can, again you would need to have a re-entry permit to keep the extension alive but you can tell the immigration officer you want stamped in on the DTV. I'm kind of assuming you want a safety net in case the dtv is unsuccessful
