Hi all . I am 62 from UK currently residing in Malaysia on a 5 year Talent visa. So technically

Resident in Malaysia. I would like to come to Thailand to stay with my Thai girlfriend. What would be the best visa to apply for if I want to relocate to Thailand ? Can I apply in Malaysia or do I need to go back to UK to apply ? I can transfer 800k into Thai bank or show funds in Malaysian account if necessary. Any help or advice much appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A 62-year-old UK resident with a Talent visa in Malaysia seeks advice on the best visa to apply for to relocate to Thailand to stay with a Thai partner. Suggested options include a Non-O retirement visa, which can be applied for in Thailand or possibly in Malaysia, and the LTR visa. There's also mention of the Thailand Privilege membership as an alternative.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.

There’s also the Thailand Privilege membership/visa to consider if you don’t qualify for the LTR visa.

You can get a Non-O retirement Visa inside Thailand after you transfer the 800k or you may be able to get it in Malaysia, check the Embassy and Consulate websites

10 years seems optimistic under the circumstances 🤭

10 year LTR is only 50k in Thailand. The embassies mark them up for no apparent reason
