Bank Acc for DTV !

Some people say that DTV visa holders can open a bank account by providing a medical check-up report.

Is this true? What do you think about it?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus among community members is that it is very difficult for DTV visa holders to open a Thai bank account, with one stating that chances are less than 1%. While there are exceptions based on individual circumstances (such as being married to a Thai, owning property, or having significant ongoing income), generally, the notion that a medical check-up report could facilitate the process is incorrect. The rule regarding bank accounts for DTV holders has tightened, primarily to combat money laundering, and most people will find it nearly impossible to open a new account under the DTV visa.

You could try one of those branches inside a hospital and ask your doctor to come with you to prove that you need an account to pay medical bill

Why should you need an account to pay medical bill? Hospitals just accept foreign creditcards.

It is possible to get a bank account on a DTV, but only with very certain circumstances, which pretty much most people don't have. So saying that you can't get a bank account whilst on a DTV is not tecnically true. But pretty much you won't be able to. And to answer your question about whether a medical check-up can get you one, that is definitely not true. They stopped giving bank accounts to DTV holders to reduce money laundering, nothing to do with being in poor health

Property ownership, marriage to a Thai, or ownership of shares in a Thai company. But I've only seen cases of people being allowed to keep existing accounts under those circumstances, not opening new accounts.

It is possible to open a bank account if you are switching from a non-Non, O, or NON B visa to another type of visa. You can open a bank account with these types of visas, but not in other cases, since the DTV visa is classified as a tourist visa.

There is no blanket rule, its just very very difficult now.. Exceptions are made on a case by cases basis for people who have things like, married to a Thai, owning a property, domestic income (rentals, or other passive incomes), large deposit accounts. These are especially the case for maintaining accounts rather than opening them.

Your chances of getting a Thai bank account on a DTV are basically less than 1%.
