Can an Indonesian stay in Thailand on a long-term basis if they are married to an American who living in Thailand on a retirement visa? She is not of retirement age herself. Or is the only option for them to come for 30 days and then leave and come back for 30 days again, endlessly?

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Indonesian spouse cannot obtain a Non-O visa based on being a trailing spouse to an American on a retirement visa in Thailand. The only sustainable option is for them to enter Thailand using visa-exempt entry, which allows for 60 days initially with a possible extension of 30 days at the immigration office for a fee. After age 50, the Indonesian spouse would need to apply for a different visa to stay long-term.

Yes. They can piggy back as a dependent until they are 50, then they need their own.

Sadly there's no way a spouse of a foreigner on a "retirement visa" (Non-O visa/extension) can get a Non-O visa based on "trailing spouse", not from an embassy outside the country and not from the immigration office inside the country.

There is no limit to the number of visa exempt entries that Indonesian people can get by air or land, and since July 15th 2024 the free entry stamp (visa exempt) went from 30 days to 60 days and they can get one 30 day extension on it at the immigration office for 1900baht
