Can I apply for a non-immigrant guardian visa in Thailand on a visa-exempt stamp after a COVID extension?

Hello! Is it possible to apply for a non-immigrant visa (guardian) in country, on a visa-exempt stamp, after having received a 60-day covid extension? Or can new visas only be applied for in-country on the “original” visa stamp, ie. without extensions?

Location is Bangkok, in case that makes any difference.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post inquires about the possibility of applying for a non-immigrant visa (guardian) while currently in Thailand on a visa-exempt entry after having received a 60-day extension due to COVID-19. The discussion suggests consulting local immigration, indicating that in-country applications for Non-O dependent visas generally require the main applicant to hold a 1-year extension. Additional clarifications regarding the guardian situation and visa specifics are also sought.

You need to talk with the local immigration office, but what I understand is, in-country Non-O dependant (trailing family) requires the main person has to be on a 1-year extension. maybe the earliest is when the main person applies for a 1-year extension so that the dependant can be granted an in-country visa when the main person is on a 1-year extension.. I might be wrong.

I need some more information.

1. When you say "guardian", is this where:

a. The child is a foreigner, the parent is a foreigner, and the child already has a Non-ED visa? OR;

b. The child is half-Thai, the parent is a foreigner, and the child has Thai citizenship because the mother is Thai?

2. How many days remaining do you have left on your 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19?

1: option a

2: 40-ish (but could also wait longer if more appropriate)

I wouldn't want to wait too long, you need *at least* 15 days remaining on your existing "admitted to" stamp
